Ferry carrying hundreds of people sinks off South Korean coast

Three people have been killed and and more than 290 are missing after a ferry capsized and sank in dense fog off South Korea's coast last night.

The ferry had 459 passengers and crew on board.

Most of the passengers were teenagers and their teachers on a school trip.

The rescue operation has recovered about 164 people so far, However, hundreds are still missing.

The ferry had been traveling to the southern tourist island of Jeju when it sank just three hours from it's destination.

Rescue teams, made up of several members of the navy and coast guard divers, as well as civilian and dozens of rescue boats and helicopters are still searching for survivors

The 480 feet long ferry has a capacity of about 900 people and motor vehicles, was built in Japan in 1994.

Britain's youngest parents welcome a daughter

Kids having a kid......

A 12-year-old girl and her 13 year old boyfriend whose names cant be revealed for legal reasons, welcomed a healthy daughter on Sunday April 13th 2014. Their baby weighted 7lb (3.17 kg) at birth.

The schoolgirl got pregnant when she was just 11 years old and still at primary school by a boy who was only 12. 

The couple, from North London is said to be “totally in love" and had been dating for a year when they found out she was pregnant. They reportedly met over Christmas 2012 in a park, when she was 10 and he was 12.

At 12 years and three months old, the new mother is five months younger than UK's previous youngest mum, Tressa Middleton, who gave birth, who gave birth at the age of 12 years and eight months, in 2006.

The youngsters reportedly have the full support of their own parents as they give their best efforts towards being parents themselves.

Her 27-year-old mother is now one of Britain's youngest grandmothers. The new mum has a 3 year old sister and 9 year old brother and her grandmother who is 56 is now a great grandmother.

In addition to raising their baby daughter together, the new parents intend to get married at some point.

Didier Drogba launches men's underwear line

Former Chelsea forward, Didier Drogba has launched his very own men's underwear line in support of his charitable foundation. 

Drogba teamed up with Marseille-based designers HOM last year to create the exclusive range of men's underwear and beachwear which will start selling from May 1.

The 36-year-old shared an exclusive image of himself wearing the new range on his official Instagram account.

According to Drogba, a percentage from every pair of pants sold would go to his charitable foundation, The didierdrogbafoundation.

South Africans dominate!

MTV Base has announced the nominees for this year’s MTV Africa Music Awards yesterday, Wednesday, 16 April 2014.

The biggest and brightest contemporary artists from across the African continent and beyond were nominated in 15 different categories.

Out of fifteen different categories, South African has been nominated in thirteen categories and includes some of the biggest names in country's entertainment industry such as Mafikizolo, Uhuru, Mi Casa, Trevor Noah among many others.

Tanzania has been nominated in three categories. Diamond got two nods for Best male and Best Collaboration while Anisa Mpungwe receives one nods for Transform Today by Absolut.

The Forbes 5: The Hip-hop's wealthiest artists 2014

According to Forbes, Diddy, Dr Dre, Jay Z, Birdman and 50 cent are the richest Hip- hop artists in the world currently.

Diddy leads the pack with an estimated fortune of $700 million, an increase of $120 million over his net worth last year. The change comes largely from the addition of Revolt TV—the new, music-focused, multi-platform channel of which he’s the majority owner—to his already-hefty portfolio.

Diddy has plenty of competition in the race to $1 billion. His top challengers are Dr. Dre, who ranks second with $550 million. The former leapfrogged the latter on this year’s Forbes Five thanks to a large stake in Beats By Dr. Dre, which he cofounded with Interscope chief Jimmy Iovine in 2008.

Beats has a unique brand—it speaks to a nice young demographic, which is really interesting to marketers.

And Jay Z, in third place with an estimated $520 million. Jay’s fortune continues to grow at a healthy clip, too. He’s made multiple nine-figure deals in the past, including his $204 million Rocawear sale in 2007 and his $150 million pact with Live Nation in 2008. But much of his recent growth comes from Roc Nation, his record label and management firm that recently added a sports agency. The outfit gets a single-digit cut of pacts like Robinson Cano’s $240 million monster agreement.

Bryan “Birdman” Williams, whose net worth would be over $300 million if he didn’t share his fortune with brother Ronald “Slim” Williams. The duo cofounded Cash Money Records two decades ago; Cash Money continues to grow with a roster that includes Drake, Nicki Minaj and Lil Wayne. Birdman has also diversified with Cash Money Content, GT Vodka and the YMCMB clothing line.

Rounding out the list is 50 Cent, who owes most of his fortune to his $100 million haul from the sale of Vitaminwater in 2007. Now he’s trying to repeat the feat with companies like SMS Audio and SK Energy beverages. In the meantime, he’ll reboot his music career by taking his G-Unit Records independent and releasing new album Animal Ambition in June.

David Moyes sacked after only 10 months

Manchester United manager David Moyes has been sacked, only 10 months after succeeding the legendary coach, Sir Alex Ferguson when he retired in 2013 after 26 years in charge.

Moyes, 50, was dismissed at a meeting with executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward at the club's Carrington training ground this morning, BBC reports.

Moyes left Everton to sign a six-year deal with Man Utd in 2013 but the Premier League champions have been playing poorly since he took over as manager.

United, who lie seventh in the table with four games remaining, are guaranteed to record their lowest points tally in the Premier League.

Ryan Giggs has been named as interim manager . Now the big question is who's next?

Netherlands coach Louis Van Gaal, Borussia Dortmund boss Jurgen Klopp, Atletico Madrid's manager Diego Simeone and Paris St-Germain's Laurent Blanc have already been tipped as possible successors.

Cuba Gooding Jr.'s wife Sara Kapfer has filed for separation citing irreconcilable differences after 20 years of marriage.

The 46-year-old Oscar-winning actor's wife filed court documents yesterday April 22nd in L.A. County Superior Court. The couple tied the knot in 1994 after meeting in high school and have three children together.

According to TMZ, Sara wants joint legal and physical custody of their children and child support will be determined at a later date.

Japanese digital eyes that can show your emotions

Can’t be bothered to show anyone what you’re thinking? Then a Japanese scientist has the answer — a pair of digital eyes that can express delight and anger, or even feign boredom.

Building on a long line of slightly wacky and not-very-practical inventions for which Japan is famous, Hirotaka Osawa has unveiled the “AgencyGlass”.

Osawa said he always wanted to build a system that is capable of carrying out social behaviours for humans.

Just as robots can reduce the need for physical labour, the AgencyGlass – which looks like two small TV screens set in spectacle frames — aims to cut down its user’s emotional demands by carrying out their eye movements for them.

Osawa, of the prestigious Tsukuba University, said possible applications include for flight attendants dealing with irritating passengers, or teachers who want to project an image of kindness towards shy students.

As the service sector grows and becomes more sophisticated, it becomes increasingly important that we behave by showing understanding to others, he said.

Such “emotional labour” has caused some people to become deeply conflicted and develop emotional illnesses, Osawa said, adding that his technology could eventually help them.

The glasses weigh around 100 grams (3.5 onces) with the battery lasting roughly an hour. The prototype cost just over 30,000 yen ($290) to make. They are currently not in production.
